Food must be safe and must not pose a health risk to consumers. Therefore, regular microbiological controls during the production as well as of the manufactured products are obligatory according to Regulation (EC) No. 2073/2005 in the EU.

Especially Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and STEC are health risks for humans and have to be detected quickly in food and in the production environment.

Salmonella infections are among the most common infections and there are always numerous recalls in the food trade. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Gastrointestinal symptoms also occur in the case of infection with the pathogenic bacterium L. monocytogenes or with STEC/VTEC.

This makes it all the more important to identify these germs quickly.

Therefore, the bilacon GmbH offers rapid methods for the detection of Salmonella, L. monocytogenes and STEC/VTEC within 24h.

The analysis is performed using real-time PCR from Thermo Scientific™, which provides reliable results even in difficult food matrices and environmental samples.
