In winter, many people choose frozen raspberries to prepare fruity smoothies or delicious desserts. The raspberries are frozen immediately after harvesting, so that vitamins are preserved and we can enjoy the berries even in winter.
Pesticides found in frozen raspberries
In some samples, different pesticide residues were found in a test. Pesticide residues are residues of plant protection products that can be detected in food after the plants have been harvested. Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 provides for matrix-specific maximum residue levels. In the tested samples, all levels are below the maximum levels. In order to ensure this for all products, regular monitoring is essential.
Correct labelling plays a significant role
On one sample, the best before date on the packaging could not be read because it was blurred. According to Article 13 (1) of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, the mandatory information must be provided “easily visible, clearly legible and, where appropriate, indelible”. During a declaration check, all information on the packaging are checked to ensure that all relevant labelling requirements are met.
